World's Largest Flower

You thought flowers were little fragile plants? Think again! The rafflesia arnoldi, the largest flower on Earth, weights 7 kg (15 pounds). Its petals reach 1 meter (1.6 ft) in length and 2.5 cm (1 inch) in thickness. The rafflesia arnoldi is native to the Sumatra Island of Indonesia and can only be found there. It is nicknamed "the corpse flower” because of its terrible reek, used to attract flies for pollination.
