The Peregrine Falcon or, in North America, Duck Hawk is the fastest animal on earth. It is a medium-sized falcon about the size of a large crow, with a wingspan of about one meter (approximately 3 feet). A peregrine has been measured attaining dive speeds of 217mph (350km/h) in a 45 degree dive. Peregrines feed predominantly on other birds such as pigeons, shorebirds, starlings, other passerines, parrots, and ducks. They tackle their prey by flying high and diving at the victims at high velocity.
