Baby Facts

A Giant Panda Bear would usually give birth to a 4 to 6 oz (110 to 170 grams) Baby Panda. If that sounds strange, consider the fact that a baby octopus is about the size of flea at birth, weighing just 0.001 oz (0.03 grams). When a baby kangaroo is born, it is about the size of a bean (less than 2.5 cm ,or 1" long). Then, it has to crawl unaided, from its mother's birth canal up the abdomen into the pouch. When it gets there, it attaches its mouth to one of the four nipples and suckles for about 5 more months before emerging as a young "joey". Isn't nature just wonderful?
