Baby Crocodiles

Unlike most animals, crocodile embryos' sex is not determined genetically as the embryos do not have sex chromosomes. The sex of the baby crocodile depends on the temperature -- eggs produce males when hatched at about 31.6 degrees Celsius (~89 degrees Fahrenheit) and females at slightly lower or higher temperatures. The incubation period of the eggs is also determined by the temperature, usually around 80 days.
